Hope For Paws received a call regarding a terrified, injured dog who was in dire need of help.
A Good Samaritan, named Mike Badger, had been feeding the homeless dog every day, and when he discovered Hope For Paws, he knew they were the right people to call.
Badger led Hope For Paws volunteers to the dog’s usual hiding spot, but he wasn’t there. They then spotted him sleeping against a wall in the industrial area, which opened up to a parking lot and busy street. They didn’t want the dog to dodge into traffic, so they knew they had to be careful yet act quickly.
The dog was so scared that he bolted as soon as he saw rescuers coming toward him. They chased him through the parking lot and managed to grab ahold of him with a snare.
The petrified pup yelped out and tried to escape the snare, but he had no idea that these people were here to help. Eventually he calmed down and accepted some food from the rescuers.
They named him Masik and brought him to the vet, where he was closely examined. His body was covered in filthy, matted hair and fleas. He was so badly matted that they put him under a deep anesthesia in order to shave all of it off.
X-rays also revealed that he had a crushed pelvis. Dr. Antonio Pedraza performed surgery to repair it, which was thankfully successful.
Masik is now healing while living at a foster home with L.A. Animal Rescue. He is already doing so much better, but now all he needs is a forever home.
