Violet ended up in a kill shelter, alone and afraid. She was so severely malnourished and frightened. She likely would have been euthanized quickly due to her poor condition, writes ilovemydogsomuch
Thankfully Whitney, a volunteer with I Stand With My Pack, heard about the Shar-Pei and raced to pick her up.
The first stop after freeing Violet from the shelter was the vet’s office. The volunteers were nervous to see what she weighed. You could see every bone on Violet’s body. The numbers don’t lie, a Shar-Pei should weigh between 40-60 lbs. Violet was under twenty. Their hearts broke for the poor dog. Why would anyone do this to an innocent animal?
Whitney tried to pet Violet and calm her down. She felt every vertebra in her spine. Then Whitney kneeled down and the way Violet looked at her confirmed her suspicions. Violet had no idea what love was. This was a turning point for the sweet girl. Her life was surely about to change!
Once in her foster home with Whitney, Violet began to learn what it meant to have frequent meals and a loving mom. Violet discovers what toys are and even has her very own bed. The first time she walked onto it, Whitney exploded with joy.
As the weeks progressed, Violet put on weight. She learned more things too. How to play with doggy friends and all about happy doggy zoomies! She discovered more things she liked. She’s turning into a happy, healthy doggo and everyone was thrilled!
