The Perez family, of Raymondville, Texas, is fighting to get their dog back, after the city’s animal control adopted him out to another family, writes ilovemydogsomuch
The week before Thanksgiving, Snowflake, who they rescued from the Texas floods in June, got loose and ran away. The family searched for hours, but to no avail.
He ended up a the city’s animal control, who adopted him out to another family before allegedly giving the Perez family a chance to claim him.
Snowflakes’s dad, Hector Perez, explained to KRGV through tears how much his family misses their beloved dog.
Perez says the shelter admitted that they made a mistake and told Perez that Snowflake’s new adopted family does not want to give him back.
Despite his best efforts, and even speaking with the Raymondville police chief, the Perez family still doesn’t have Snowflake back.
Perez says the worst part is that Snowflake’s new family lives nearby.
“If you whistle, I can hear him bark,” he told KRGV. “He belongs to us, he’s part of our family.”
The city’s attorney is currently looking into the incident, and Perez is looking into his options as well. Perez hopes to have Snowflake back with his family before Christmas.
